What is Efficiency Kansas?
A practical, low-cost loan program that helps Kansans like you make energy-efficiency improvements to your home, rental unit, or small business.
The program was developed by the Kansas Energy Office to make it easier to make your home more comfortable and reduce your energy costs.
Step 1: Schedule the energy audit A comprehensive energy audit is the key to finding out where the savings lie. Check the list of Efficiency Kansas qualified energy auditors for auditors working in your area.
The auditor will make an appointment to conduct a thorough inspection of your home, then prepare your Energy Conservation Plan and submit it to the Kansas Energy Office for review.
Step 2: Review your Energy Conservation Plan Once your Energy Conservation Plan is approved by the Kansas Energy Office, the auditor will walk you through the improvements recommenced for your home and explain how they are prioritized to maximize your energy and cost savings.
You’ll receive detailed project specifications to use when seeking bids and arranging for the work on your project. You select the contractors you want to work with.
Step 3: Arrange for financing With contractor’s bids in hand, you’re ready to arrange for Efficiency Kansas financing, through one of the partner lenders or utilities listed online. No matter which track you chose, you’ll get low-cost financing and the assurance that your dollars are going toward cost-effective upgrades for your home.
Step 4: Get the work done! Once your financing is approved, you’ll notify contractors and get started on your Efficiency Kansas project. When all the contractors are finished, your energy auditor will return to conduct a post-retrofit inspection and verify that the improvements followed the approved plan and check for any health or safety issues.
